The rodenticidal properties of DIFENACOUM were described in 1976. DIFENACOUM was also introduced to overcome the early strains of resistant rodents found in the UK and on continental Europe. It is unusual among anticoagulants because, at the LD50 level, it is more potent to house mice than Norway rats but it is also used against rats, including warfarin resistant strains. DIFENACOUM is one of the newer and more potent second-generation anticoagulant rodenticides. DIFENACOUM differs from the first-generation anticoagulants because it is very potent and only requires a single dose to induce death, if sufficient toxicant is ingested. The target organism doesn’t need multiple ingestions to die, once is usually sufficient, thus reducing the quantity of active ingredient useful to control rat or mice population and also reducing the risk of resistance development.
Store the container tightly closed in a cool, dry place away from food, pets, sunlight, and ignition sources. Keep in hazardous material areas and mix well before use.
