DEET is a synthetic repellent, and was first developed by the US Army in 1946 for use by military personnel in insectinfested areas. In 1957, DEET was first registered in the US for consumer use.
DEET is commonly called “the gold standard” for repellents, as is the most effective repellent found over a broad range of biting insects and other arthropods.
It is currently estimated that there are over 200 million applications of DEET products each year in the US alone.
Soluble in most organic solvent, including alcohols used in topical application products.
DEET is an excellent repellent for use in topic treatment on skin against a lot of biting insect and against arachnids such as ticks.
DEET is used in a wide range of product for skin protection as lotion, aerosols, emulsions and wipes.
compatible with most of the actives, solvents and coformulants normally used in the manufacturing of products.
Avoid exposure to heat and ignition source. Incompatible with oxidizing materials.
It is recommended that DEET be stored in a dry, closed container at temperatures not exceeding 100°F (38°C). When stored under these conditions, the shelf life of the bulk DEET is a minimum of 3 years from the date of manufacture.
