Endura at the Newpharm Cereals Forum: Elia Gianotti Presents New Standards for Piperonyl Butoxide

Written by Endura | 19-03-2026

On 12 March 2026, Endura took part in the high level technical conference organized by Newpharm in Bologna, an event that gathered institutions, industry leaders, and specialists across the entire cereal supply chain. The forum offered a valuable opportunity to discuss market trends, regulatory developments, and the technological innovations shaping the future of grain storage and pest management.

During the event, our Technical Solutions Specialist, Elia Gianotti, delivered an insightful presentation titled “Piperonyl Butoxide: new standards and regulatory updates.” His contribution provided an overview of the strategic role of Piperonyl Butoxide (PBO) as both as the best-known synergist and as a key ally for operators dealing with today’s increasingly complex storage challenges.

Key points from his presentation

    • PBO as a synergist: Elia explained how Piperonyl Butoxide enhances insecticide performance by blocking detoxification enzymes in insects, increasing efficacy and reducing the need for repeated applications.
    • A cleaner, safer, more advanced PBO: He introduced Endura’s PBO Prime, characterized by superior purity, reduced impurities (DPM, DPE), and enhanced supply reliability essential features in a market facing fewer available active substances.
    • Regulatory updates: With the introduction of Commission Regulation (EU) 2024/1487, synergists like PBO are entering a structured approval process in the EU. Endura will support the submission of PBO dossier by 2028, under the assigned RMS (Greece) and co‑RMS (Germany).
    • PBO as a strategic partner for grain storage: In the final part of his talk, Elia emphasized how PBO could become increasingly strategic for the grainstorage sector. With challenges such as insecticide resistance, lower Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs), scarcity of active substances, and growing operational constraints, PBO stands out as an enabler of more effective, sustainable, and reliable pestcontrol strategies. Its broad spectrum of action and ability to enhance insecticide sensitivity make it a key tool for protecting stored cereals while optimizing pesticide use.

By contributing to this important industry discussion, Endura reaffirmed its longstanding leadership in synergists and its commitment to supporting both professional and agricultural Pest control sectors with safe, reliable, and high-quality solutions.
Through Elia Gianotti’s presentation, the company once again demonstrated its dedication to developing innovations that protect stored grains, improve operational efficiency, and help the cereal supply chain navigate today’s rapidly evolving challenges.
